GPS Location Collection and Geofencing

Any sites with mobile punch enabled can also collect location data through the mobile app. This helps verify that remote employees were "on site" when clocking in and out.

In addition to tracking an employee's location, you can implement  Geofencing to facilitate better management through a defined perimeter around one or more locations.

Enable Mobile Punching

Choosing which employees can clock in and out via the mobile app is done on an employee-by-employee basis in Employee Setup.  

To turn on mobile punching for an employee:

1. Click Employee Setup from your timekeeping navigation menu.
2. Choose the employee by name from the list.
3. In the Identity section of the Employee Record, click the Edit button.
4. Set "Mobile Punch Enabled" to "YES". 
5. Click Save and Remain

The employee cam now clock in and out via their mobile phone.

If you don't see "Mobile Punch Enabled", then mobile punching may be turned off for your site. Contact us for assistance.

Add GPS to Mobile

TimeWorksPlus Employee also allows for collecting location data with the punch.

Two things are necessary for GPS collection:

• Add GPS to Mobile Punch is enabled in the Employee Setup record. See steps below.

• The employee must allow GPS collection by the app. They can agree to this when installing the app or by changing the app settings on their device.

To turn on GPS collection for an employee:

1. Click Employee Setup from your timekeeping navigation menu.
2. Choose the employee by name from the list.
3. In the Identity section of the Employee Record, click the Edit button.
4. Set "Add GPS to Mobile Punch" to "YES". 
5. Click Save and Remain.

Once the employee agrees to let the app collect location data, their time card will show their location.

If you don't see "Add GPS Mobile Punch" on the Employee Setup record, then location tracking may be turned off for your site. Contact us for assistance.
